What is Relationships?

TRUST

TRUST is a very important factor for all relationships. When trust is broken, it is the end of the relationship. Lack of trust leads to suspicion, suspicion generates anger, anger causes enmity and enmity may result in separation.

A telephone operator told me that one day she received a phone call. She answered, "Public Utilities Board." There was silence. She repeated, "PUB." There was still no answer. When she was going to cut off the line, she Heard a lady's voice, "Oh, so this is PUB. Sorry, I got the number from my Husband's pocket but I do not know whose number it is."

Without mutual trust, just imagine what will happen to the couple if the telephone operator answered with just "hello" instead of "PUB".

NO POINTING FINGERS

A man asked his father-in-law, "Many people praised you for a successful marriage. Could you please share with me your secret?"
The father-in-law answered in a smile, "Never criticize your wife for her shortcomings or when she does something wrong. Always bear in mind that because of her shortcomings and weaknesses, she could not find a better husband than
you."

We all look forward to being loved and respected. Many people are afraid of losing face. Generally, when a person makes a mistake, he would look around to find a scapegoat to point the finger at. This is the start of a war. We should always remember that when we point one finger at a person, the other four fingers are pointing at ourselves.

If we forgive the others, others will ignore our mistake too.

CREATING PERFECT RELATIONSHIPS?

A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage, SDU, and requested "I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one." The SDU officer said, "Your requirements, please." "Oh, good looking, polite, humorous , sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing. Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my
leisure hour, if I don't go out. Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest." The officer listened carefully and replied, "I understand you need television."

There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband ,because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover that marriage is not a bed of roses. The nightmare begins.

NO OVERPOWERING

Many relationships fail because one party tries to overpower another,or demands too much. People in love tend to think that love will conquer all and their spouses will change the bad habits after marriage. Actually, this is not the case. There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "It is easier to reshape a mountain or a river than a person's character."

It is not easy to change. Thus, having high expectation on changing the spouse character will cause disappointment and unpleasantness.

It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our expectations..

RIGHT SPEECH

There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "A speech will either prosper or ruin a nation." Many relationships break off because of wrong speech. When a couple is too close with each other,we always forget mutual respect and courtesy. We may say anything without considering if it would hurt the other party.

A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction site. A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted,"Hi, Emily! Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school." On the way home, her millionaire husband teased her, "Luckily you married me.Otherwise you will be the wife of a construction worker." She answered ,"You should appreciate that you married me. Otherwise, he will be the millionaire and not you."

Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad relationship. It's like a broken egg - cannot be reversed.

PERSONAL PERCEPTION

Different people have different perception. One man's meat could be another man's poison. A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the way home,a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them ride on the donkey?"Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?" Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman."
The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you." Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a na rrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.

Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear..

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck. The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the boy's hands. When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, " Daddy,I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?" The father went home & committed suicide.

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with someone u love. Trucks can be repaired.. Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is greater than revenge.

People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

p/s: Got this from a forwarded e-mail. Thanks to Dr. Sumathi for giving me this.

Nishino Kana - Dear (HQ)

PV 西野カナ Dear・・・ 高音質高画質

Wow, this MV is very inspiring... with the high tone in the voice, quick music, and a very good lyric. I think, they try to show that there is love among good friends and between boy/girl couples. They take both, and also the high-school girls highlighted in the MV, to obtain good sales among young Japanese. From what I saw on TV chart, this song is very phenomenal to young Japanese girls. People made this song as ring-tone for their cellphones.

Got my new car!

Alhamdulillah, I got a new car through corporate car auction in Tokyo last Friday (Nov 6th, 2009).

Had to spare a parking space for that car too... and successfully got it yesterday (Nov 7th). It's just near to my university's back gate, near to Circle K convinient store. A pretty convenient place, indeed. But, have to 'kayuh2' my bicycle to go there from my apartment. Hmm... less than 3 minutes though. Hope that it's safe there.

Tomorrow, I'll go to Showa-ward Police Station to make Parking Lot Certificate (syakou-syoumei-syo). I'll meet the parking lot owner to get his permission letter that I need to submit to that police station. And also pay him JPY12,000 (lowest at that area) for monthly parking. In Japan, you need to have a proper parking lot for your car before they approve to register your name for that car. So, nobody will leave their car at a non-proper place, as every vehicle has it's designated place approved by the traffic police to park. Nice rule. Should also be applied to Kuala Lumpur in the future.

Then, I'll need to go to the police station again the evening to submit all the forms, and then go to Chikusa-ward Office to obtain inkan-syoumei-syo (Certified Seal Registration). I'll need it to register my car thereafter.

I really hope that all the procedures can be completed until Friday Nov 14th. Hmm... not sure though. Next week is also OK. I'm too busy with my thesis this week, I think.

Okay, good luck to everybody!

Me and myself...

I've been very rarely write new post these days. There're so many thing to do in my daily life recently. The experiments, the company management, the thesis, the journal paper, another international conference, the guys inside my company... and where should I steer the company, my love, etc. Oh, I forgot about what I need for myself in every single moment...

Been spent too much money for obtaining some new infrastructure for my company. There is cloud computing dream in me which urges me to go further and further. But, that is for my company. As I said above, it's always myself who me myself forget. Should use the money to buy a Lexus... but now, it's just a Lexus dream. I can only afford a Honda, with money pouring in from my account in Malaysia. It's worse because of the pricey Yen in recent years.

What about Abg Wan's marriage party in November? Would I be able to attend it? I never attended any marriage party in my family since I entered University Malaya... up until today, except for Kak Ra's. Shame on me. Oh God, that's too bad. But how I could attend any of it while I'm hundred of miles away... and returning is not an easy thing, with me who think "my job first, family is next". Oh... maybe I should find something to settle down and get the truth and enjoyment of life... my current condition is too bad (I think, not you think!)

Maybe this is for me...

Arrhenius Plot with OriginLab

Alhamdulillah, today, I've found the way to make Arrhenius fitting to obtain activation energy from my InGaN multi-quantum-well (MQW) temperature-dependent photoluminescence measurement.

I've been searching for the ways to make the fitting for activation energy (Ea) since last week. Thanks to Dr. Chen, he helped me to fit my data yesterday. After getting the fitting data today, I tried to do it myself using my Origin 8.0. He could help me with the fitting because he did it on his home PC running Origin 7.5. The interface is totally different, same as what I have with my Origin 6.0 and Origin 8.0. That's the root of the whole problem. But, now, it's okay.

I'll post the method here when all my data is properly calculated.

Alhamdulillah (Thanks God (Allah)).

Click (more info) for Lyrics.

I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreaming but
There's a voice inside my head sayin,
You'll never reach it,
Every step I'm taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what?s waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing,
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes they knock me down but
No I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on, cause

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It's all about
It's all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

Finding answers...

Still writing my 3rd paper. Alhamdulillah (thanks God), every result for my AlGaN/GaN underlayer looks good... PL (photoluminescense) surface mapping, PL temperature-dependence, TEM (transmission electron microscopy) and also x-ray RSM (reciprocal surface mapping) is also good.

Last time there was problem with the RSM value when the x-ray data was opened on my PC. Today, Alhamdulillah, when I tried to re-do the measurements, I opened the data on the PC at x-ray room... and it seems like everything is OK. I did re-do for just 1 sample today because I think it is not necessary to do the same thing. And, the result today also perfectly match my previous result. So, no problem. Just finished the measurements and returned to my office room.

This 2-3 days is time to find answers to many questions in my mind... regarding to my research, especially. Also for my business. Also for the partnership for my business... hmmm...

Haha... checked SongYing's blog just now. It seems too long I haven't heard from her. Maybe she's busy with exams there.

Okay, I've to go. Not eat anything yet. Wanna go home and cook something before sleeping. I'm feeling too tired already because my mind works for the entire day... already 13 hours working. Go back Shuhaimi...

いつの日か
あなたの腕の温もりに
包まれて眠る夜

I wish upon a star 帰り道を
導いて 私の元へ
I wish upon a star 迷わぬように
足元を照らしてて

降り注ぐ
遠き光は 女神のように
あなたをそっと守り続ける
forever love

I wish upon a star 夏の空に
いくつもの想いが浮かぶよ
I wish upon a star なぞってみる
愛の星 結んでる

耀いた
星の光は 海を泳いで
安らぎの場所 見つけて眠る
forever love

Come Back to Me

I've been quite busy lately working on my research, and don't spend time to write here. There's 1 more publication that I need to finish before I could sit back and feel safe. The 3rd publication must be accepted in July (the worst case) to enable me to finish my study in October. Otherwise... I have to extend a little more, that I don't really want to.

Spent time web-casting with my family in Malaysia last night. It was so great because the whole family was at home, they just returned from my elder brother's engagement. I know, next is my turn...

Found a very good new song by Utada Hikaru at someone's blog on the net. I like the rhythm so much that I think I should put it here. Please enjoy the music.

Utada Hikaru - Come Back to Me

The rain falls on my windows
And the coldness runs through my soul
When the rain falls, oh when the rain falls
I don't want to be alone

I wish that I could photoshop on
Our bad memories
Because the flashbacks, oh the flashbacks
Won't leave me alone

If you come back to me
I'll be all that you need
Baby, come back to me
Let me make up for what happened in the past

Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
Boy, you're one in a million
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
You're one in a million

Memories I have of Manhattan
She goes shopping for new clothes
And she buys this
And she buys that
Just leave her alone

I wish that he would listen to her
Side of the story
It isn't that bad
It isn't that bad
And she's wiser for it now

I admit I cheated
Don't know why I did it
But I do regret it
Nothing I can do or say can change the past

Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
Boy, you're one in a million

Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
You're one in a million
One in a million

Everything I ever did
Heaven knows I'm sorry but
I was too young to see
You were always there for me
And my curiosity got the better half of me
Baby take it easy on me

Anything from A to Z
Tell me what you want to be
I open my heart to be
You are more priority
Can't you see you punished me
More than enough already
Baby take it easy on me

Baby take it easy on me

Baby come back to me
Baby come back to me

Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
Boy, you're one in a million

Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
You're one in a million
One in a million

Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
Boy, you're one in a million
One in a million

Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
I'll be everything you need
Come back
Baby come back to me
Come back
Boy, you're one in a million
One in a million

Sultan Mizan Stadium Roof Collapse

The Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium roof structure before the collapse. The Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium after its roof collapsed yesterday.

Billed as the pride of the state, the RM300mil Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak suffered a major blow when its roof collapsed yesterday – just a year after it was opened.

No one was injured in the 9am incident, but the stadium, which was the venue for Sukma (Malaysian Games) last year, has been declared unsafe.

The damage at the east wing has been estimated at RM25mil.

The impact of the collapse was so loud that an employee at the stadium thought that a plane had crashed-landed on it.

“I shivered when I heard the deafening sound,” stadium administration officer Noor-kumarasari Jamil, 31, said.

She panicked and screamed for her colleagues to leave the office as the Sultan Mahmud Airport was situated near to the stadium.

Noorkumarasari said her superior directed all the employees to vacate the office and take shelter at a nearby indoor stadium.

General worker Hajjah Shafar, 32, said she was terrified when she saw the roof structure tumbling down.

“I was sweeping the floor at the west wing of the stadium when the roof collapsed,” she said. “I just ran for my life.”

Nineteen workers, mostly cleaners, were at the stadium but they managed to flee to safety.

The stadium is part of the modern Gong Badak sports complex, which was built at an initial cost of RM250mil but the amount surged by an additional RM50mil due to soaring prices of building materials.

The indoor stadium, which is also part of the complex, was built at a cost of RM160mil.

The roof on the stadium’s left wing was ravaged after the iron frame structure supporting the 300m-long roof destabilised, causing it to fold. The affected zones were the main entrance, royal podium and the public seating area.

A Kancil car and three motorcycles were also damaged by the debris.

Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Mansor, who visited the site, said the Construction and Industrial Development Board, a wing under the ministry, had been tasked to form a team comprising architects to determine the cause of the catastrophe.

“It’s premature to point fingers at any party, including the contractor responsible for erecting the roof structure, until the outcome of the investigation.

“The stadium is still under warranty and the contractor will bear the cost of the remedial works,” he said, adding that the incident had tarnished the reputation of the country.

State Fire and Rescue Department director Puazan Ahmad said they received a distress call at 9.45am, and 25 personnel were sent to the site.

Fix GRUB MBR After Reinstall Windows

Update:
For CentOS/Fedora, it is very easy to do this using the "grub-install [device name]" command.
For me, I use:
(If you have an IDE hard disk, the [device name] is "hda", while for my SCSI disk, it is "sda")
# /sbin/grub-install /dev/sda
Installation finished. No error reported.
This is the contents of the device map /boot/grub/device.map.
Check if this is correct or not. If any of the lines is incorrect,
fix it and re-run the script `grub-install'.

# this device map was generated by anaconda
(hd0) /dev/sda

I have a dual install, with Windows Server 2008 (for testing) in the 200GB first partition, a small unpartitioned space in the second partition, and CentOS 5 in another 200GB third partition. There is also unpartitioned space (in LVM) left afterward for my Xen virtual machine testing.

After a few weeks, I decided to install Windows 7 in the first 200GB partition removing the Windows Server 2008. However, after completing the Windows 7 installation, I found that the splash GRUB screen asking for which OS for boot-up was not there anymore.

Here is my method to fix it:
1. Boot with CentOS 5 CD, in rescue mode:
$linux rescue

2. It will search for previous Linux installation. Mount the Linux installation:
$chroot /sys/sysimage

3. Find your installation disk, by checking in previously working /etc/grub.conf file:
$cat /etc/grub.conf

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
# root (hd0,1)
# kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
# initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=0
timeout=7
splashimage=(hd0,1)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title CentOS (2.6.18-128.1.10.el5xen)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /xen.gz-3.3.1
module /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.1.10.el5xen ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
module /initrd-2.6.18-128.1.10.el5xen.img
title CentOS (2.6.18-128.1.10.el5)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.1.10.el5 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.18-128.1.10.el5.img
title CentOS (2.6.18-128.el5)
root (hd0,1)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.el5 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.18-128.el5.img
title Other (Microsoft Windows)
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
$

As we can see, the OS is installed in hd0, with CentOS in (hd0,1) and Windows in (hd0,0).

4. Run the following grub command, and you can setup/modify/fix GRUB MBR:
$grub
$>root (hd0,1)
$>setup --stage2=/root/grub/stage2 (hd0)
$>quit
$

5. Restart the PC with:
$shutdown -r now

Averything should return to normal now.

The worst oral presenttaion, ever!

I've finished all the presentations this evening. I think, my talk is the worst of all guys presenting at this conference... I was so nervous, and I've to see my text through the entire presentation. And, I exceed the 15 minutes time... they don't even give any question time for me because there's no time anymore. Everybody who see my face seems like saying, "You're the worst guy today!".

By the way, all have finished... and everybody who I met during the poster session (after the oral presentation) agrees that our data on Si(111) is the best result in the world! I think, here, they're good at presentations, but, their results are bad! In other words, they're good at presenting bad results! And the worse thing is they fabricate their results to look good! They do TEM, but when I asked about why their dislocation density is so good, they told me they estimate the dislocations by AFM. I wonder why they estimate it by AFM when they already do TEM (she is a professor, the meeting chair though). Seems like she don't like me much because I said during the oral presentaton that we're one of the few laboratory in the world who could achieve crack-free GaN on Si, and nobody attending this meeting could achieve that. The professor also did LED on Si, but she told me the IQE is just around 12% (no data shown though). Still, we're the best! Haha...

I like a professor (Prof Wang) from National ????Chung-Tao???? University from Taiwan. He advised me about his paper published on APL last year about threading dislocations, and he got almost the same result as mine. He's a very nice guy, we had a little discussions after my oral presentations. I like him very much.

The poster presentation went well though. There're people working with LEDs/devices who like it. And I had good discussions with them. A guy from Stanford who did a very good oral presentation during the session also spend his time at my poster. Seems like he's interested in what we're doing (maybe interested to copy my methods too! Haha..). I understand that he's also working on Si substrate for GaN. There's also a women working on GaN nanowires who shows her interest in my LED too. And, a professor from National Soul University... I think, he want to know comparison between LED grown on Si and sapphire. I didn't have experience working with sapphire though, so the simple question is a little tough for me to answer. But, I said it's 5-10 times higher intensity on sapphire, but the saturation current is 2 times higher for LED on Si. There're plus and minus in everything...

Frankly speaking, I met many good people during the poster session :)

Blogging from San Francisco

Arrived at San Francisco this morning at around 9AM (it's 1AM in Malaysia, the next day). Had a tough check at immigration by US Home Land Security. I was redirected to the 2nd stage. Thanks God documents, esp the invitation letter from MRS was with me at that time. But, the officer there took allllllll information about me, my family, what I'm doing, even my VISA credit card number. Maybe it's only because my name is Ahmad... what the heck!

Came to my hotel (The Pickwick San Francisco) at 5th Street (near Moscone West and SF Center) from SFO using door-to-door van, costed 16 dollars. The hotel front desk told me it would be 12 dollars if I booked with them. Actually, coming to the hotel by BART (Bay Area Railway Transit) is far cheaper, just around 3 dollar. I took the van because I have too many luggage with me, the main big bag, a long poster case, and 2 briefcase with laptop in each. One is mine for personal use, the other one is my laboratory's for the presentation on Tuesday. But, mine is old... so, it's buggy and weighty... and many documents in there which I think I need to read before the presentations.

Hmm... just returned from going out for dinner. I wen to Mehfil Indian Restaurant and 2nd street. The environment there was great! The staffs are very friendly. I've no idea which is good, so I just ordered what the guy staff recommended me. Chicken briyani as the main dish, some appetizer and a drink. The best one is mango lassi for the drink. I could say this is the best lassi I've ever drank. (Lassi is a sort of Indian juice). I even bought another one for out. Just like the guy said, "You'll be addicted to it!". Haha... it really is.

After that, went around Powell Street. It's a really nice place, with many Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, Korean, Japanese restaurant around. If I didn't find Mehfil earlier, I would've dine at any restaurants here. The area is better with many people around, and tram with crowded people inside. Maybe this is the nightlife area in SF, I think (not sure though). There're many hotels around, and you're searching for a Halal restaurant, there is a Indian & Pakistani Restaurant just near the Hilton Hotel at O'Farrel Street. I saw many people inside. Nice place I think. I'll probably try this place on the other day.

Haha... nice day anyway, at least I could gasp the atmosphere here. Just to make myself convenient with this totally new place for me. And, I'm alone too... maybe I'd meet somebody at the meeting tomorrow :)

LED Process Redo...

Still at clean room, because I have to redo the entire process for my LED. The previous process had problem with the transparent electrode. I used a transparent electrode I developed during my M1 year for the previous sample... and, it's not good due to oxidation. The supposed-to-be-transparent-electrode became black and non-transparent when I saw it during the measurement yesterday morning. And, there's no light coming out of it... :(

Ya Allah...

Now working with the default LED electrode used by others in this laboratory. Hope everything goes well this time. Insya'Allah.

Tired...

US Non-Immigrant Visa

Alhamdulillah. After just more than a week, today I already received my US Visa! Yahooooo! Alhamdulillah (Thanks God).

Now it's time to prepare and submit my MRS manuscript. Manuscript submission will open this Monday / March 16th. There're 2 manuscript that I have to submit... hope it's not that tough. Already finished the one for APL, now I have to make sure the data / graph I allocated for APL does not overlap with MRS.

There're so many thing to prepare in this 3 weeks time... the manuscripts, the presentation slides, the oral presentation text, and the poster for my 2nd presentation...

... and now the thing that's messing my mind is my server in Kuala Lumpur cannot be accessed... what's the problem there...? IP conflict? Not sure what's the problem. I'll contact Amran next morning. Need to sleep now...

Slumdog Millionaire Soundtrack - Dreams On Fire

I specially dedicate this wonderful song to my lovely Hui :)

I love this song so, so much! There's a humming version of this song titled Latika's Theme in the end part of the movie Slumdog Millionaire. It's so soothing and the lyrics is simply beautiful! Enjoy!

Lyrics

You are my waking dream
You're all that's real to me
You are the magic in the world I see

You are the prayer I sing
You brought me to my knees
You are the faith that made me believe

Dreams on fire
Higher n higher
Passions burning
Right on the pyre

Once far, forever yours
In me
All your heart
Dreams on fire
Higher n higher

You are my ocean waves
You are my thought each day
You are the laughter from childhood games

You are the spark of dawn
You are where I belong
You are the ache I feel in every song

Dreams on fire
Higher n higher
Passions burning
Right on the pyre

Once far, forever yours
In me
All your heart
Dreams on fire
Higher n higher

小田和正 -たしかなこと(確かなこと)-

I dedicate this song for YOU!

小田和正 - 心(こころ)

I dedicate this song for somebody...

Express visit to Osaka in 2 hours...

Just came back from Osaka for US Visa application/interview... and the good news is, I was at a place 500 km away south of Nagoya for less than 2 hours! No single second for travelling this time!

Went there by the fastest bullet train arriving at Shin-Osaka station at 9:36AM... and boarding an express train back to Nagoya at Namba Station at 11:00AM. What the heck!

I've to prepare Prof. Egawa's speech for an important international conference to be held at Nagoya University next week. So, there's a lot of time I need to spare for his 30 min speech. It's related to "Tokai Region (Japan) Nanotechnology Manufacturing Cluster Initiative" which our laboratory is gaining a lot of fund from. So, it's important to give good image for everybody's sake. Still working on his slides...

Okay, I'll post about the US Non-Immigrant Visa process in my next post. I just can't afford my time for that now. See ya'!

“Praan” and “Where the hell is Matt”

I was really busy in the last month, otherwise what is the answer that I haven’t heard about Matt Harding! Whose dancing video has been watched more than 18 million times only on YouTube. This video has been spreaded through the internet like viral.

What is in the video that make it so special? Well to be frankly there is actually nothing. A 31 years guy named Matt is dancing in different places in different countries (to be precisely 42 countries). The dance is just some unique movements of Matt (which anyone hardly can call dance). But if you see the video, I bet you’ll feel happy from inside of your soul. The uncommon dance movement from Matt … the theme of the video … people from all around the world dancing with Matt … the colorful expression of joy … the rich , soothing and vibrant music … all makes an unfathomable feelings.

Oh! Here comes the background music part. If you listen the music keenly you’ll be amazed that that is a Bangla song. Surprised! Well here is the second part of the surprise. This song titled “Praan” is taken from Robi Thakur’s “Gitanjoli”. And the third part of the surprise is this song was sung by a 17 years old Bangladeshi teen named Palbasha Siddique.

The Bangla lyrics of the song “Praan” is given below.

The English pronunciation would be somewhat like following:

Praan
Bhulbona ar shohojete
Shei praan e mon uthbe mete
Mrittu majhe dhaka ache
Je ontohin praan

Bojre tomar baje bashi
Shey ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami

Shei jhor jeno shoi anonde
Chittobinar taare
Shotto-shindhu dosh digonto
Nachao je jhonkare

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami

The exact meaning of the Bangla word PRAAN in english would be LIFE. But for this video, I think the English term should express more, and the appropriate term will be somewhat like “Stream of Life”. Here is the english meaning of the lyrics: The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and dayruns through the world and dances in rhythmic measures. It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earthin numberless blades of grassand breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers. It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birthand of death, in ebb and in flow. I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life. And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

A wonderful moment...

A simple gift turned it to be one of the most wonderful moment in my life :)

See the picture?
Changsha - Gift from Hui

A short journey back to my Malaysia...

Went back to Malaysia for less than a week to meet my family and setup a few thing for my business. I also have to be there to change name for a land I bought together with my 2 other siblings Abg Wan and Adik Li. It was a busy and tiring week...

And don't forget, I got first time experience missing a domestic flight back to Kuala Lumpur from Kuala Terengganu on my final day there... haha :) I should've board Air Asia flight at 8:20AM, but missed it. Need to spend another RM660 to buy Malaysia Airlines ticket 2 hours later. I think, I should learn 2 things... 1) Never be late again to the airport, and 2) Never fly with Air Asia again... not anymore!

Setup a server at Jaring Internet Data Center (IDC) at Technology Park Malaysia Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur before boarding my flight to Beijing. My brother Adik Sani and a staff from AIST named Muzaffar accompanied me there. Everything was so goooood!
GLiCX Networks - Jaring IDC Kuala Lumpur

Went to Kamdar at Megamall KL with Adik Sani to buy a Baju Melayu before my flight. Abg Yie went there to meet me from Melaka. Adik Ilmi also went there from Cheras to meet me. Hehe... seems like I met everybody, except Kak Ra. Chatted with Kak Ra in the morning after I missed my flight, so I think everything's OK.
Baju Melayu

Abg Wan had 'kursus' (training & exam) at Petaling Jaya (Kuala Lumpur) on the day I fly back to Beijing, so he was not there. But, I already with him during my flight to Kuala Lumpur. He took me at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in the midnight of Feb 5th with his company friend he called Bujal. Stayed at Abg Wan's company house at ??? in the night. He sent me to Bukit Jalil STAR station in the morning of Feb 6th because I've to go to Chinese Conculate Office Kuala Lumpur to apply a Chinese travel visa.

Hmm... see my Flickr for photos...

Submitted...

Submitted my paper to E* sensei in the evening for him to check the content. I feel sorry to him because it took me 2 months to finish everything. My data was so good... but, it took so much time to investigate, understand and write the paper. I don't know why, but I felt very tired after submitted the paper. So tired...

Went home earlier today, at around 8 PM. Not because I feel tired, but because there's a parcel scheduled to arrived at home between 8-9 PM. I'm a little nervous what my supervisor will comment my paper tomorrow... hehe :)

Anyway, so tired... I'm sleeping now...

A full blown day of activities

Did a lot of things today.

Started X-ray-diffraction (XRD) experiments with Pum in the morning. Pum was quite busy today because he has interview for his scholarship, but I glad he was able to come to the laboratory and join me with the XRD.

He left the laboratory for his interview in the afternoon. I also left the instrument and went to International Student House for a Malaysian student meeting. Actually, I went to the meeting just to eat the free lunch... haha :) So, had to sit down and listen to their meeting, etc... and yes, MAKAN! (eat!) Haha! (Actually, they need to give free food to attract people to come... what a bad management...). Hmm... after that, went to Osu Kannon with Kucai (Osu Kannon is a very famous downtown area in Nagoya selling many computer, fashion, foods, traditional goods, etc). Bought something very nice as a souvenir to 'somebody' I will meet next month.

Also, looked for some bags for myself... for my conferences. Last year, I bought a Samsonite leather shoulder bag, but that's too big for just a commute between hotel and conference hall. I saw a Tumi bag, that's pretty nice. Light and slim, just fit to put a lightweight small laptop and a few documents. I really liked this one... but, I'll search at other places for a better price. Haha... really need that I think.

Hmm... back home at 6, and had to cleaned my house because Kucai told me that my juniors will come to my house for a 'nabe' party (like Chinese hot-pot). They came and did some shopping at a nearby Jusco/AEON, came back again and prepare with the raw foods. I prepared 'konomi-yaki', my favorite.

Our 'kimchee nabe' and 'konomi-yaki' this time were the BEST! Not only the taste, but also because we got many more members... 7 person this time. Haha... it was 'saiko'! (the best!).

Before 11 PM, I left the guys with the party and went back to laboratory to shutdown my XRD instrument. When I reached there, Pum was already at the instrument, waiting for the final (204) omega scan to finish. All measurement for today finally completed at 11:20, and we left the instrument 20 minutes later after doing the shutdown procedure. Nomura was still there doing AFM (atomic force microscopy)... I felt very sorry to him because I asked him 2 days ago to finish all growth for my LED samples which I really need for another conference... but, I cannot tolerate with excuses, that's what I hate most. (Actually, I asked him for the sample in early December, but he kept postponing the growth for my sample... I was so angry with him last 2 days when he gave me another excuses... sorry, no more tolerate this time. We're working on schedules, not on excuses...).

In life, I never wanted to be a strict man. But, when I'm too soft with them, they don't listen. That's why I like to be viewed by my junior in the laboratory as a strict guy. Whoever who know me personally will know what kind of person I am... just another man passing by you on the street, and you never turn back to see him again... hehe...

Alhamdulillah, my abstract was accepted!

Wow! What a great day today. Wake up in the morning, switch on my laptop, and got 2 new mails in my Windows Live mailbox... and they were from Materials Research Society (MRS). They're about my submitted abstracts last November. And the good news is... both of my abstracts were ACCEPTED! Wow! And the better news is, one of the abstract about MQW enhancement by adding SLS cladding layer was accepted for ORAL presentation! Alhamdulillah. The other one about LED fabrication utilizing the same SLS cladding layer was accepted for poster presentation. Haha... it's great! (Sadly to say, the one accepted for poster presentation is planned to be withdrawn because my supervisor asked me to submit it to a different conference). Whatever it is, everything's so great!

Thank you Allah, ma & abah for your support!

Wassalam.
