No education system can exceed the quality of its teachers

"The only way to improve outcomes is to improve instruction."

That's the key takeaway from a big McKinsey study (PDF file) on global education policy. Regardless of country, teacher quality has more impact on student performance than any other factor, including class size and per capita spending.

That's not exactly news. The interesting part of the study is its examination of best practices for improving instruction, both by recruiting better teachers in the first place and by developing the skills of teachers once they've been hired.

XRD Sample Characterization

Dah 2 hari straight dah mesin XRD (X-ray diffraction) kat bawah tu ONnnnn jer memanjang. Sekeping sample amik masa 12 jam utk omega & omega/2theta scan. Satu hari boleh characterize 2 keping sample jer, n of course 24 hours non-stop per day. Dah penat dah berkelah kat dlm bangunan nih.

Jap tadi ingat nak pegi tido kat tingkat 4, cek XRD kat tingkat 1... rupa-rupanya X-ray generator nyer power putus lagi!!! Haiyyyaaa... problem maa. Rugi masa 6 jam, tetiba kena abort kat tengah2! Astaghfirullahalazim. Sepatutnya measuremnt nih siap tepat jam 9 pagi esok. Tp, nampaknya kol 4 petang esok baru boleh siap.

Ya Allah... harap2 measurement yg re-do nih x-ray power tak terputus lagi. Banyak abis masa. Ngantuk nih... tgh heat-up balik x-ray generator tu, kol 4 pagi nnt baru boleh start balik measurement. Sedey. Dugaan sungguh kali nih. Tp Alhamdulillah, stakat separuh result yg keluar tadi, mmg quantum well nyer fringe-peaks mmg lawa sangat2, even on Si substrate, even on SLS (strained-super-lattice)!

Sepuluh Tahun Sebelum Merdeka (Ten Years Before Independence)

The most inspiring documentary on Malaysian politics before Malaysian independence.
Sepuluh Tahun Sebelum Merdeka

Update 13 April 2008: This video shows scenes around the airport officially released by UKOM Terengganu. Many Datuks are also there... but I'm not sure who they are. The part when Tuanku Mizan "melambai-lambai" to the Rakyats really touches me.

(My personal comments: These are qualities of UMNO leaders in Terengganu (and Malaysia)... shame on you!)

A short stop-over in Hong Hong

I'm unable to write long this time. These are just my personal notes for my future travel to Hong Kong City.

How to go to Hong Kong city from Chek Lap Kok Airport:
1. After exiting arrival hall, head for "Airbus" (with bus logo) sign-board. You can ask tourist information desk after exiting custom check. There're lots of guides and maps there, just take anything you want. I was a little confused when followed the bus sign as there's also "Hotel shuttle bus" heading to "Terminal 2", but don't go for that if you want a cheaper method going to the city.
2. At the airport exit (if you follow the "Airbus" sign), you can see many double-decker bus in-front of you, and there's ticket/information counter on your left.
3. I booked a hostel at Mirador Mansion which is located at Tsim Sha Shui, so buy a ticket route A21 at CitiFlyer counter (left counter). Wait for the bus at A21 waiting area. You can check the location at the information board in front of the bus station. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BUY RETURN JOURNEY TICKET INSTEAD OF SINGLE JOURNEY TICKET as you'll get discount for the second journey. Single journey ticket would cost HKD35, while return journey ticket would cost HKD55.
4. CityFlyer airport buses are red and yellow colored, just for a note. Make sure to be in front at the queue as you can get better seat in the bus. I would prefer front seat of the second floor of the double-decker bus. When entering the bus, show ticket to the bus driver and put it into the coin box. You can pay directly pay at the box if you don't have ticket (However, I'm not sure how you can get return journey if you do this way). Put your luggage at the luggage area (CCTV monitored), and go get a good seat.
5. Enjoy your journey, as it may take around 40-50 minutes to Hong Kong city (Mong Kok or Tsim Sha Shui area). Tsim Sha Shui is at the 13th stop (number and location name is shown in Cantonese and English at the LED panel inside the bus for each stop). Better get ready to get-off the bus before the bus actually stop at your desired location. I saw a girl shouting "Wai, wait, hold on!!!" to the driver in my journey.
6. Stay cool when your get out of the bus. There'll be so many pedestrians around you. Some girls (may I say "makcik") will come to you and offer body massage, face massage, foot massage, etc... some Indians/ Pakistani will come to you and give your their restaurants pamphlets, etc. At Tshim Sha Shui (Nathan Street), you'll see many European, Indian/Pakistani, Philippine, Indonesia/Malaysia, Japanese and Korean faces around you, not only Chinese. Walk through the Nathan Street following the bus direction. You'll find Maridor Mansion at the 58th. If you go straight to the front, you'll find Holiday Inn (one block further), then the Chung-King Mansion. Head into Maridor Mansion entrance, lift is to your right after passing 3-4 shops at the entrance. For my hostel, I've to go to the 13th floor where the hostel counter is (just in-front of the lift). The "nyonya" there is quite "baik la jugak", explaining me simple things not only about my room, but also about the building itself (the lift you used to enter the building just now is unusable from 8PM to 6AM, you've to use another lift at the back which is equipped with CCTV camera for security).
7. Be happy with your room, as that's the cheapest you can get at the BEST located area in Hong Kong!!! Instead keeping yourself in the room, go outside and watch & feel Hong Kong city. Go walking along Nathan Street for cheap bargains, or Kings Street for good meals!
8. I took subway from Tsim Sha Shui station (subway entrance is joust around the Mirador Mansion) to Mong Kok. At first, I'm not sure which exit should I go for, but after strolling around, I think exit heading to Girls Street (not sure/remember the name in English though) is the best one. I' not sure whether they really sell girls for pleasure, but you'll see stalls selling everything (from HK t-shirts to lingerie) just along the street! I bought Hong Kong 100% cotton t-shirt for my friend in Japan and for myself just for HKD25 dollar each here. They'll put HKD35-40 per piece, but its your time to bargain. Normally, you can get nearly half the advertised price. There're also many shops selling home electronics, computers, and cellphones around.
9. To go back to the airport, take A21 CitiFlyer airport bus at the bus stop just at the opposite side of the Mirador Mansion. The bus would take 40-50 minutes to the airport, so plan your time properly. For my case, I take bus at Mirador Mansion at 1PM for my flight at 4:30PM, and the timing is just nice. I waited for nearly 40 minutes for Cathay Pacific flight check-in at counter C (economy class ticket). Immigration clearance didn't take long time though.

The flight journey from Hong Kong to Nagoya was very nice. I got a cute Japanese girl travelling alone from Australia just next to my seat. We just chat along the journey until the plane landed in Nagoya Centrair International Airport. How come the stewardess misunderstood us as couple along the journey... hmmm, I won't elaborate on that though... <^-^>

Good news from the opposite side of the globe...

Actually, I'm now at my hometown in Kuala Terengganu for a short break. I'm not really happy to take a break at this challenging moment in my research, but this is the only moment that I would be able to "take a Kit-Kat" (reads: take a break). And, it's extremely short... just 5 days to go and return to a place a quarter distance of the globe! I'm quite used to this kind of life, maybe.

Alhamdulillah, the abstract I submitted last January for MRS International Materials Research Conference in Chongqing, China has been ACCEPTED! Alhamdulillah, syukur ke hadrat Ilahi. This would be a great start for my international debut <^-^>

Tahniah Barisan Rakyat/ Alternatif. BN perlu berubah untuk memenangi kembali hati rakyat terutamanya golongan muda yang bakal memimpin Malaysia. Sekian.

Just found this on the net...

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centred;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, they may cheat you;
Be forthright anyway.
What you spent years building, they may destroy overnight;
Build anyway.
The good you do today, they often will forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it will never be enough;
Give the world the best youve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and GOD;
It was never between you and them, Anyway.

Bypass and Disable Genuine Windows Validation Check

As detailed in Bypass Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Check in Windows Update, Microsoft has made it harder for illegitimate, or for whatever reason, your copy of Microsoft Windows couldn’t be validated, users to retrieve updates via Microsoft Updates or Windows Update, and download programs from Microsoft Download Center.

If you just want to download and apply critical updates to your system, you will be still able to do that without any hack and crack. Just set your Windows’ Automatic Updates (found in Control Panel) setting to Automatic, and let Windows does the updating job in the background. The downside is, it won’t get for you the optional updates.

If you want to download optional components from Windows Update, or simply want to download Windows Defender, Windows Media Player 10, Photo Story 3, DirectX 9 and other application softwares from Microsoft Download Center that require WGA validation tool, you will need to apply a easy and safe hack to bypass the checking.

Open Windows Explorer by clicking Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer.
Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data folder.
Delete (or backup or move to another folder, if you want) data.dat file.
Create a new empty data.dat: You can create a new text file by (make sure you are at the right folder at above) clicking File -> New -> Text Document or right clicking on Windows Explorer window then click New -> Text Document. Then, either rename the file to data.dat. The original .txt extention of the text file need to be changed too. You can disable the hiding of extension of known file types, or follow the following steps to create a new file out of the text file:
Open the text document you just created.
Click on File -> Save As.
Change the Save as type to “All Files”.
In the File name, type data.dat
Click Save.
Go back to the Windows Explorer, at folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows Genuine Advantage\data, check that data.dat exists.
Delete the text file you created previously.
Set the attributes of data.dat to Hidden and Read-Only. Attributes can be set by right click on the data.dat file, and then click on Properties.
Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) validation check has been disabled.
Note: The data.dat that are replacing the original data.dat can be blank text file or empty, or you may type whatever you want there.

With this hack (or crack if you want), Windows WGA piracy check will be bypassed and you can now download software from Download Center or apply updates from Microsoft/Windows Updates.

Non-stop 3 day clean room process... ngantuk!

Alhamdulillah... baru jer abis xperiment aku utk Ni/Au/Au(cap)... 3 hari tak stop... esok Insya'Allah buat measurement. Nak wat ari nih dah tak larat... dah penat & ngantuk nih. 3 hari... more than 15 hours of work and less than 6 hours sleep, OK la jugak kan. Tp laporrrrrrr!!! Ntah ape la aku makan, telan roti sapu kaya yg Ma bagi bawak bekal gi Shanghai ari tu jer.

Mlm tadi gi makan kat Tenki, tak larat dah nak masak... lagipun kalu aku masak, rugi 2 jam masa, baik guna utk tido. Ntah mlm tadi aku tido kol 10-1 jer kot. Kucai kejut awal sgt aa... aku cek timer rupanya kol 2 baru jadik 8 jam utk vacuum pumping utk evaporation beam deposition kat clean room nih. Mandi + semayang subuh pagi tadi, kol 4 pagi aku bertolak... gi pulangkan dvd kat Tsutaya dulu sbelum dtg lab... switch ON main power EB at 4:30AM... siap Au deposion at 5:45AM, then masuk acetone for lift-off. Siap boleh bet kat eBay lagi pagi tadi sementara nunggu acetone@55 deg C (30 min). Lift off cam ok sket dari Ni/Au sebelum nih, tp senang sgt tercabut. Patut kurangkan mase utk acetone immersion kot. Takpun ubah surface treatment before Au deposition. Air and N2 ambient annealing done simultaneously, everyhing was OK.

Okay la... dah jadik xperiment report plak... kepala pk pasal mende tu jer. Stat from esok dah kena concentrate on LD process pulak, sensei & Hao san dah stat bunyi dah tu. Ya Allah... moga2 electrode nih berjaya dpt Ohmic with the lowest specific contact resistance ever, to enable lasing... Insya'Allah.

Bye dulu, nak semayang Zohor & makan roti plak... nnt pegi jejalan Osu/ Sakae aa jap... this is the only holiday I've for this weekend... tinggal 4-6 jam jer lagi. Wassalam.

Alhamdulillah... syukur...

Pagi tadi Alhamdulillah dah settle presentation kelas Egawa sensei, tak la teruk sgt. Kat Ebers-Moll modell tu ok aa... semua equations boleh disettlekan. Tak percaya pulak aku... start dari awal kelas die, mase abis Emers-Moll tu dah kol 11:45... 5 min jer lagi tinggal mase. Egawa tanyer aa boleh abis ke tak nih, aku cakap ok kot... tp mmg tak sempat aa. Pasal Emitter Efficiency tu... aku dah blank dah... kurang persediaan kot pasal tu. Lepas tu, die cakap sambung minggu depan aa pulok. Aku ok jer, boleh prepare lebih sket.

Lepas Zohor & makan ngan Kucai, Kutu, Zam, Pejal n Mokh... aku ajak Orioka buat I-V and TLM meas. Alhamdulillah... syukur sungguh! VERY GOOD RESULT for my p-GaN Ni/Au electrode, guna aku nyer surface treatment procedure. Alhamdulillah... usaha tak tido malam & bangun pagi2 tak tentu masa pegi skolah sejak-2-menjak nih. Process utk nih baru jer stat sabtu lepas (RIE/ activation anneal), Ahad cuti, Isnin (surface cleaning/ TLM).. sampai load dlm evaporation chamber kol 12 mlm tu. Pgi Selase aku dtg kol 7, metal evaporation sampai kol 8:30 tu, then gi kelas sampai kol 12. Kol 1 gitu stat ngan Orioka buat annealing. Ari nih lepas presentation tadi buat meas tu... Alhamdulillah...

Good motivation for further investigation in surface treatment method... wassalam.

"Yang terjadi biar saja terjadi...
Bagaimanapun hidup memang hanya cerita...
Cerita tentang meninggalkan dengan yang ditinggalkan..."

Cinta
by Melly Goeslow feat Kris Dayanti

Menatap jalan yang menjauh
Tentukan arah yg ku mau
Tempatkan aku pada satu peristiwa
Yang membuat hati lara

Di dekat engkau aku tenang
Sendu matamu penuh tanya
Misteri hidup akankah menghilang?
Dan bahagia di akhir cerita

Cinta tegarkan hatiku
Tak mau sesuatu merenggut engkau
Naluriku berkata tak ingin terulang lagi
Kehilangan cinta hati bagai raga tak bernyawa
Aku junjung petuamu
Cintai dia yg mencintaiku
Hati yang dulu belayar kini telah menepi
Bukankah hidup kita akhirnya harus bahagia

Di dekat engkau aku tenang
Sendu matamu penuh tanya
Misteri hidup akankah menghilang?
Dan bahagia di akhir cerita

Cinta tegarkan hatiku
Tak mau sesuatu merenggut engkau
Naluriku berkata tak ingin terulang lagi
Kehilangan cinta hati bagai raga tak bernyawa

Aku junjung petuamu
Cintai dia yg mencintaiku
Hati yang dulu belayar kini telah menepi
Bukankah hidup kita akhirnya harus bahagia

Cinta biar saja ada
Yang terjadi biar saja terjadi
Bagaimanapun hidup memang hanya cerita
Cerita tentang meninggalkan dengan yang ditinggalkan

Cinta...

Changing the MAC Address in W2K and XP

Changing the MAC address in W2K and XP

(This page stolen from http://www.klcconsulting.net/change_mac_w2k.htm
because I wanted a copy in my notes here so I wouldn't lose it.)

Method 1:

This is depending on the type of Network Interface Card (NIC) you have. If
you have a card that doesn't support Clone MAC address, then you have to go to
second method.

    1. Goto Start->Settings->Control Panel and double click on Network and
      Dial-up Connections.

    2. Right click on the NIC you want to change the MAC address and click on
      properties.

    3. Under"General" tab, click on the "Configure" button.

    4. Clickon "Advanced" tab.

    5. Under "Property section" you should see an item called "Network Address" or "Locally Administered Address", click on it.

    6. On the right side, under "Value" type in the New MAC address you want to
assign to your NIC. Usually this value is entered without the "-" between the MAC address numbers.

    7. Go to command prompt and type in "ipconfig /all" or "net config rdr" to
verify the changes. If the changes are not materialized, then use the second method.

    8. If successful, reboot your systems.

Method 2:

This method requires some knowledge on the Windows Registry. If you are not familiar with Windows Registry, just use the SMAC tool to change the MAC addresses, or consult with a technical person before you attempt on the following steps. Also, make sure you have a good backup of your registry.

a. Goto command prompt and type "ipconfig /all" and

I. Record the Description for the NIC you want to change.

II. Record the Physical Address for the NIC you want to change.
Physical Address is the MAC Address

Figure 1.

b. Goto command prompt and type "net config rdr" and you should see
something like

Figure 2.

c. Remember the number between the long number (GUID) inside the { }.
For example, in the above "net config rdr" output, for MAC address
"0C095ECB793", you should remember {1C9324AD-ADB7-4920-B02D-AB281838637A}. You can copy and paste it to the Notepad, that's probably the easiest way. (See figure 2.)

d. Go to Start -> Run, type "regedt32" to start registry editor.
Do not use "Regedit".

e. Do a BACKUP of your registry in case you screw up the following steps.
To do this

I. Click
on "HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Local Machine" sub-window

II. Click
on the root key "KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".

III. Click
on the drop-down menu "Registry -> Save Subtree As" and save the backup
registry in to a file. Keep this file in a safe place.

f. Go to "KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEMCurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-
08002BE10318}. Double click on it to expand the tree. The
subkeys are 4-digit numbers, which represent particular network adapters. You should see it starts with 0000, then 0001, 0002, 0003 and so
on. (See figure 3.)

Figure 3.

g. Go through each subkey that starts with 0000. Click on 0000, check DriverDesc
keyword on the right to see if that's the NIC you want to change the MAC
address. The DriveDesc should match the Description you
recorded from step (a.-I.). If you are not 100% sure about the DriverDesc,
then you can verify by checking if the NetCfgInstanceID keyword value
matches the GUID from step (c).

If there is no match, then move on to 0001, 0002, 0003, and so on, until you
find the one you want. Usually 0000 contains the first NIC you
installed on the computer.

In this demonstration, 0000 is the NIC I selected. (See figure 3.)

h. Once you selected the subkey (i.e. 0000), check if there is a keyword "NetworkAddress" exist in the right side of the window. (See figure 3.)

I. If "NetworkAddress" keyword does not exist, then create this new keyword:

i. Click on the drop down menu "Edit -> Add Value".

ii. In the Add Value window, enter the following value then click OK. (See figure 4.)

Value Name: = NetworkAddress

Data Type: = REG_SZ

Figure 4.

iii. String Editor window will pop up at this time (see figure
5.)

iv. Enter the new MAC address you want to modify. Then click OK.

(There should not be any "-" in this address. Your entry should only consist of 12 digits as seen in the figure 5.)

II. If "NetworkAddress" keyword exists, make sure it shows the
keyword type is REG_SZ, and it should show as NetworkAddress:REG_SZ: .
This keyword might not have a value at this time.

i. D
ouble click on the keyword NetworkAddress
and the String Editor window will pop up. (See Figure 5.)

ii. Enter the new MAC address you want to modify. Then click OK.

(There should not be any "-" in this address. Your entry should only consist of 12 digits as seen in the figure 5.)

Figure 5.

j. There are 2 ways to make the new MAC address active. Method I does
not require a system reboot:

I. Goto Start->Setting->Control Panel, and double click on
"Network Neighborhood".

WARNING: Make sure you understand that you WILL lose the
network connection after completing step "ii." below, and if you have a DHCP client, you will get a new IP address after completing step "iii."

i. Select the Network Adaptor you just changed the MAC address.

ii. Right click on the selected Network Adaptor and click "Disable."

Verify the status column for this adaptor changes to "Disabled"

iii. Right click on the selected Network Adaptor and click "Enable."

Verify the status column for this adaptor changes to "Enabled"

iv. If for any reason it cannot be disabled or re-enabled, you have to reboot your system to make the changes effective.

II. Reboot your Windows system.

k. Once completing step j (if rebooting the system, wait until the reboot is
completed), go to command prompt, type "ipconfig /all" to confirm
the new MAC address.

Restore The TRUE Hardware burned-in MAC Address:

  1. Remove the entry you added:

  1. If you followed Method 1, then go back to the advanced properties window and remove the entry you add.

  2. If you followed Method 2, then remove the "NetworkAddress" keyword you added in the registry.

  1. Usestep (j) above to activate the change you make.

  2. Once rebooted, go to command prompt, type "ipconfig /all" to confirm
    the original MAC address.

If MAC Address changes does not work:

If for whatever reason the MAC address cannot be changed using method 2, make sure you restore the registry setting by following the "Restore The TRUE Hardware burned-in MAC Address" instruction above. If necessary, restore the registry you just backed-up to get your system back to the original state. You can do this by clicking on the drop-down menu "Registry->Restore", and restore your backup registry file.

or use SMAC.

Dari pagi berlari sampai malam

Nih la idup... pagi bangun tido, terus bergegas dtg lab... awal gak pagi tadi, kol 8 sampai skolah. Plan semalam nak dtg kol 6-7 pagi, tp terbangun lambat aa... 7:02AM baru terbangun... nih kes tutup jam loceng nyer pasal aa nih.

Sampai skolah, 8:10 dah masuk clean room, buat HCl etching utk sample aku 2 ari lepas. Then load dlm evaporation beam chamber for Al deposition. Berpusing kepala, tangan ngan kaki nak kejar mase nyer pasal... kol 8:05AM (jam clean room) abis setting, terus berlari keluar pegi lecture hall utk kelas Yamamoto sensei. Alhamdulillah la jugak sbb partner Jepun duk sebelah best la jugak... Yonaha pun ade kat depan jer, so taklah cuak sgt cam kelas first time last week. Jepun tu pun baik jer ajar aku... kelas nyer kerja pun tak teruk sgt hari nih... kire menarik aa jugak.

Abis kelas, berlari balik lab... Takashima n Orioka dah pun ada tunggu aku, BAGUS!!! "Kol 11 nnt kite stat", aku kate kat diorang aa nih. Then, stat la kerja aku... dari deposition Al, lift-off sampai RTA annealing. Lepas diorang balik dlm kol 5:30 PM tadi, aku sambung lagi photolithography dan sekarang nih tgh vacum utk Ni/Au deposition. Lama gak nunggu nih... dlm 90 ke 120 min. Makan aa megi dulu, ntah satu hape tak telan lagi hari nih... kebulur betul aku nih!

Hmm... pasal scholarship, aku dah jumpa dah Mr Yamaguchi (Foreign Student Office) siang tadi, memacam die tanyer aku pasal visa ari tu... scholar pun banyak die tanyer. Aku skarang nih jadik private student katenyer. Pasal JPA x approve lagi scholarship aku pun die dah tau... aku amik die nyer tel & fax number skali utk Husna (KUKUM) antar financial affidavit kat die nanti.

Okay aa dulu... makan & buat report electromagnetic nih sementara tunggu abis vacum. Bye & wassalam ;)

Xperiment lagi...

Huh... lama sungguh dok tulih blog nih. Nih sesaje bosan sambil makan meggi kat lab nih, tulih aa kejap. Pendape aa nok tulih nih... hmm... ari nih cam biase aa buat xperimen. Ingat tadi nak balik jer skali ngan Orioka (B4) lepas ajar die cara guna thermal resistance annealing, tp pk pk balik... baik aku terus buat photolithography utk TLM patterning. So, jimat sket masa utk esok. Abis semua TLM patterning malam nih utk 9 keping sample tu, esok tgh hari boleh start vacumm utk Al deposition. Abis kelas Opto-electronic kol 2:30PM tu, boleh deposit, then dlm kol 4:30 gitu dah boleh buat RTA anneal. Tp aku blank nih... nak anneal esok ker, lusa sbb lepas anneal tu kena teruskan xperiment tu dlm masa 6 jam tanpa henti utk elakkan sample tu rosak. Hmmm... peninn gak nih. Okay aa dulu, sambung lagi lain kali... abis dah mase nih.

Final Year Research Presentation

Alhamdulillah... usaha sbg undergraduate student selama 4 tahun kat Nagoya Institute of Technology nih dah sampai ke penghujung. Petang tadi dah siap dah presentation utk ECE (Electrical and Computer Eng.) Department. Ntah camane ntah... mase present tu ade sangkut2 sket sbb terlupa plak sket2 permulaan ayat. Ade la dlm 2-3 saat gak kot setiap kali sangkut, so terpaksa la aku goreng sket, tp goreng dlm bahase Jepun nih bukanlah sama cam goreng dlm bahase Melayu or English... goreng pun susah la jugak sbb takut tak bersambung ngan point lepas tu. Tp ok la ayat2 yg aku goreng sket2 tu... ntah camane la boleh lupa ekk. Cuak nyer pasal aa nih. Tp takpe la... secara keseluruhannya ok la jugak, cuma aku jer tak puas hati ngan diri sendiri sbb Tsubota ok jer... mostly perfect. Satu gi mende alat remote control utk tukar slide kat tangan kiri aku tu asyk terskip slide jer, ampess gak aa sket. Tertolak kuat sgt kot die nyer punat tu, tp aku betulkan balik aa. Jadik cam nak test slide mase rehearsal pulak. Ntah ape2 la... mase rehearsal ari tu takde la pulak mende2 camnih. Hmm... sure cuak nyer pasal aa nih kot. Tp ape2 pon, ok aa kot. Sensei Arai tanyer pasal cukup ke tak 1.123 x 10*(-3) ohm cm*2 yg aku dapat stakat nih... so aku jawab jer la tak cukup lagi, sbb kalu boleh nak sampai 10*(-6). Egawa plak tanyer pasal lapping rate... tp sbb aku lupa, aku jawab aa aku tak kira lapping rate, tp diamond slurry lagi cepat dari SiC #4000... tu jer. Ampess gak aa jawapan aku tu... penat jer aku kira semua lapping rate ari tu, tp sbb lupa nyer pasal... terpaksa la aku jawab cam tu, buat jatuh imej jer. Sure Egawa ingat aku jenih tekitou jer buat jikken lepas nih, tp tak kisah la... kita tgk la hasil aku lepas nih!

Ochiyou, semua dah berakhir utk sementara waktu. Dah penat dah kepala otak nih. Ok la yek, bye & wassalam dulu.

Iftar di Masjid Nagoya

Alhamdulillah... abis gak akhirnya majlis buka posa kat masjid Nagoya jap tadi... yg bestnyer semua budak Malaysia mainkan peranan. Sbb makan ringan mase buka posa tu budak Malaysia yg buat, utk makan berat pulak org Indonesia yg buat. Aku sebagai pembeli air la... pengalaman sejak tahun lepas (tahun lepas nyer kopi ade 'nyukazai'... 300 ketul kena buang bagi sesajer jer kat Jepun).

Kali nih aku gi beli kat kedai sama gak cam tahun lepas yg kat Atsuta tu, pegi ngan Kucai mlm tadi (kol 7, tutup kol 8PM). Memula pakat nak ajak Zam ngan Kutu skali, tp sbb kol 7 suku baru nak tolak dari rumah aku... cancel aa, aku gi ngan Kucai jer.

Air yg dibeli: (utk rujukan tahun depan)
Jus Oren JPY38 x 150pcs
Jus Epal JPY38 x 150pcs
Air Mineral JPY128 x 24pcs

Lepas tu singgah kat Jusco Kanayama sbb kedai tu takde jual air dlm kotak... ingat nak beli kotak aa nih, tp sampai Jusco... mahal aa pullok yg jenih kotak. So, beli aa air berikut:
Dakara JPY198 x 4pcs
Lipton Tea JPY198 x 4pcs

Rasenyer air cam tak cukup... tp mase majlis tadi, Alhamdulillah... semuanya cukup. Siap lebih lagi air mineral tu 1 kotak (6 pieces), ... air2 lain yg dah dibuka tu pun ade gak aa lebih... tp mmg chodo ii la kot bilangan semer. BEST!!!

LD characteristics measurement...

Lama dah tak tulih blog kat sini.... tak sempat nak tulih sbb slalu balik malam jer sejak-2-menjak nih. Abis jikken dah tgh malam, dlm kepala just ingat nak balik rumah jer... malas dah nak lepak kat lab nih, walaupun duk depan kom nih... penat beb! Lapor lagi... makan sekali jer sehari sejak akhir2 nih. Tu pun kol doblas malam, lepas tungkus lumus masak... nak mandi lagi, semayang lagi, ngaji koran lagi... tgk tv tu... hmm... ntah sempat sambil kunyak makanan jer la.

Ari nih buat measurement utk LD yg buat minggu lepas (utk panar-structure jer). Tp, hmm... sedih... tak lase la jugak. Nyala jadik LED jer la nampaknya... spectrum pun tak ok... FWHM dlm 14 nm gitu aa. Teruk aa... tp ok 2 nm compared ngan LD yg dulu. I-L tak tunjukkan result best aa... tak lase masalahnyer. Maybe structure tak betul kot sbb yg nih planar-structure. Kol 4 lebih tadi stop aa... Ohta suh berenti aa... die pun dah penat sgt dah tu, mlm tadi tido kat lab lagi. Sian die... aku pun tanak cakap banyak aa ari nih, Ohta-KUN jer yg banyak cakap... tp Ohta-SAN cam penat aa... tak banyak buat lawak cak dulu2. Series jer... aku pun malas nak wak lawak.

Ok aa... nak gi semayang Asar plak nih... bukan selalu abis awal camnih. Boleh tgk matahari petang sket ari nih. Wassalam.

Ribut Taufan

Pergh.... mlm tadi hebat jugak taufan kat sini... satu hari sejak pagi lagi hujan jer memanjang. Tgk TV petang semalam memacam ade... rumah runtuh la, jalan banjir la, banyak org pindah pegi evacuation site la... memacam. Kali nih nyer taufan tak la kuat sgt angin cam biase, kali nih hujan banyak... banyak tak ingat nyer. Mujur aa Nagoya nih terlindung sket, kalu tak... jadik lagi aa banjir cam tahun 2000 ari tuh... banjir besar Nagoya. Kami kat sini selamat sbb typhoon tu pergi ke arah Hokuriku lepas naik dari Kobe/ Kinki. Just hujan jer la kami kat sini. Tp jap tadi kuwar rumah mase nak gi ke skolah kuat gak angin... semalam tak perasan sgt sbb tak kuwar rumah langsung kot sehari suntuk. Malas nak kuwar hujan2 tu... lab pun cuti semalam. So, takde keje nak dibuat kat luar rumah. Tadi dah sejuk dah angin kat luar... dah tak lama nak musim luruh aa tuh... Tu jer dulu, bye :)

BBQ at Nagaragawa (Gifu)

Yosshhh!!! Semalam Alhamdulillah, BBQ kat Nagaragawa dah pun selamat dibuat dgn jayanya. Mlm sebelum tu prepare tak ingat nyer... beli barang semer2 ngan Kucai & Zamri, antar kat rumah Uxop & Bergey, then start masak sambal ikan bilis utk nasik lemak. Lepas dah siap tu, buat bbq nyer sauce guna Tandoori nyer perencah, then gaulkan. Nasik lemak Bergey tolong masakkan lepas subuh tu, so bersurai aa kire.

Pagi tu plan kol 7 musti semer dah sampai, alih2... Kucai plak kol 7:30 baru bangun tido... tu pun Zam dah dtg dah rumah aku. Nak kol 8 gitu baru bertolak gi rumah Uxop, then bertolak terus. Dlm kol 9 gitu, dah sampai dah area Nagaragawa tu... tp sbb tak tau jalan utk turun ke sungai nyer pasal... terpaksa la kami ronda2 dulu... abis kampung kami pusing... haha. Kol 10 gitu baru aa berjaya carik jalan, rupa2 nyer ada jalan kecik yg susah nak nampak skt kalu tgk dari arah yg aku datang... patut aa. Dah sampai tu, berkemas barang dan carik tempat... dpt aa tempat best. Mase tu takde org sgt lagi, ade org putih 2 org tgh berjemur jer. Tgh2 start bakar... dtg aa geng2 awek duk tak jauh dari group kami, then dtg lagi org lain... last skali ramai giller org kat situ. Tempat yg kami amik tu dekat ngan air... tp ade yg buat kat tgh darat pun banyak... ntah aa kenape, takut air naik kott.

Dah siap bakar first round... carik nasik lemak... tetiba..., "Eh, mane sambal ikan bilis??? Telur mane?" Lorrrr... rupenyer sambal ikan bilis ngan telur tertinggal kat dlm peti ais kat rumah Uxop. Part yg best nyer... semer org diam terus. Ntah kuyashii kot. Haha... punyer la prepare tak ingat nyer utk nasik lemak tu, last2 makan nasik lemak kosong ngan ayam bbq jer, cincah ngan sos thai sket. Dlm keta tadi punya la kepingin nak rase nasik lemak ngan sambal ikan bilis yg nampak cam best tu...

Abis tu mandi aaa... org lain tak mandi pun, kami jer. Dah le bising tak ingat nyer... Kucai, Zam, Nafa ngan Bergey siap main bola beracun (die nyer rule baru jer dicipta semalam, so cam bukan bola beracun gak aa). Teriak tak ingat nyer... cam bebudak plak. Semer chumoku kat diorang... stendert aa, mane ade kemaluan diorang nih. Haha... lepas mandi makan lagi... camtu la sampai aa penat sgt, tertido kat atas kanvas. Kol 3 gitu dah start prepare nak balik dah... mandi utk kali terakhir, then salin baju, semayang Zohor... (dan Asar sekali bagi mereka yg sempat). Kol 4 gitu bertolak pulang... kol 6 sampai sbb jalan jam laa. Sampai rumah Uxop ape lagi, berkejar sambal ikan bilis aa!!!

p-GaN Pd/Au TLM Pattern

Alhamdulillah, ari nih hari penting dlm idup nih... start pukul 10 pagi tadi, aku buat TLM experiment semua sendiri jer. Ohta-san dah start suruh aku buat sendiri dah. Semua yg die ajar dah lengkap kot. Mujur aa jugak banyak aku tanyer mase sebelum balik (lepas abis annealing) mlm semalam. Pagi, aku masuk clean room dah kol 11 gitu kot... start dgn touch-up instruments, start fixing 5x5 GaN sample on sample glass, then spin coating, then transfer TLM (transmission line method) pattern to resist coated sample, develope, bake, HCL etching, EB (electron beam) metal evaporation, lift-off, RTA (rapid thermal annealing) anneal. Abis anneal kol 8:30PM tadi, then shut-down clean room semua... kol 9PM aku kuwar, kembalikan kunci semer2. Banyak betul keje ari nih... semua atas kepala aku. Kemas2 semua mase shutdown tadi pun kena buat... abis kena kemaskan researcher lain nyer solution. Takut betul aku buat xperiment sengsorang dlm celan room tu... risau kalu gas bocor ke ape2. Ntah ape la agaknyer yg aku buat kalu BCl3 gas utk RIE bocor ker ape... acid pelik2 kat dlm tu lagi... kalu terjadi ape2 ke... takut sungguh. Macam duduk bilik berhantu plak.

Tp ok aa... best tu, semua buat guna kepala sendiri (berdasarkan ape yg aku bincang ngan Ohta semalam). BesT!!! Balik rumah org tgh sibuk ngan berita typhoon no. 18. Citer berita ape2 ngan aku sejak 2 menjak nih sorry la... berkejar kat dlm clean room jer, tak tau sgt ape berlaku kat dunia luar nih... kalu banyak mase menunggu ok aa sket sbb boleh gi jenguk2 berita kat komputer. Kalu tak, sori aa... mmg takde mase utk selain research. Bye!

I sayang dia dari jauh - Malaysiakini Kejap tadi mase tgh2 lepak2 duk mabe berita pasal Anwar Ibrahim kat Malaysiakini, tetiba berlaku "jishin" (gempa bumi), kali kedua utk malam ni saja. Tadi dlm kol 8 gitu dah berlaku dah skali... kali nih skali lagi kol 11:55PM. Uhh... cuak gak aa erteri aku, dua kali jishin kuat dlm satu malam, nih tgh tgk NHK.

RikuUnKyoku: Meigi Henkou

Ari nih pegi jugak aku akhrinyer ke RikuUnKyoku... lebih kurang cam JPJ gak aa kat Malaysia utk tukar nama hak milik kereta. Dari pagi aku kejut Kucai ajak pegi... tak bangun2 gak. Ajak kol 9... die tak bangun. Kol 10 kejut lagi... tarak gak. So, aku pegi dulu Showa-KuYakuSyo (Pejabat Daerah) utk buat seal registration, seal certificate ngan alien registration certificate nanti nak guna utk tukar nama. Balik rumah kol 11 lebih ajak lagi... tak bangun tido gak. So aku gi lab jer aa... dah malas aa nak layan mamat nih. Kalu tido... uishh... susah sungguh nak bangun. Nih kena exrthquake pun boleh tak sedor nih.

Gi skolah pun Ohta takde... bebudak lain semer takde, dah start nak cuti Obon esok nyer. Mmg lengang sungguh skolah, geng2 post-doctor jer ada mesyuarat ngan sensei. Lain2 semer x de. So, bosan nyer pasal, kol 1:30 gitu aku try aa mail kucai ajak pegi... YeSS!! Akhirnya, Kucai bangun gak tido.. kol 2 gitu balik, naik keta gi JPJ. Sesat gak masa memula, tp sebenarnyer x aa susah sgt jalan die... kat Route 1, nanti ade simpang besar yg ade jejantas 4 penjuru kat atas die. Kat bucu kanan hujung depan lorong tu ade kedai keta... Apple agaknyer. Masuk Kanan, depan sket sampai aa. Sempoi jer aku sbb semer dokumen lengkat, ikut yg pakcik kat kaunter no. 1 tu cakap jer... ikut jer kertas yg die tulih tu. Bayar borang no 1: 35 yen, then sbb nama aku panjang n tak cukup kotak nama, kena beli kertas lain utk panjangkan nama: 35 yen. Bayar syazei (cukai kereta): 23,000 yen, akhir skali nombor plate baru (Nagoya 302 su 4207). Alhamdulillah... lepas berlari2 buat semer... akhirnya kereta tu jadik hak aku jugak. Dah fax dah syaken syoumei (vehicle certificate) baru kat kedai aku beli keta ari tu. Siap aa semer pasal kereta... ringan sket kepala rasenyer.

Sekarang nih just tunggu utk tukar wheel cover baru (JPY1000) ngan spare tire cover kat belakang... cam mahal gak... maybe auction tu jatuh dpt JPY15,000 gitu gak kot. Mahal nyer... cover tu jer padahal. Tp ade cover tu macho aa sket nanti. InsyaAllah selamat semuanya. Wassalam.

Alhamdulillah... selamat pulang...

Alhamdulillah... pegi Tokyo Jumaat lepas OK jer. Sampai pagi tu aku duk lepak kat Marunouchi jap utk tunggu Shah Reza. Kol 7AM gitu Shah sampai, terjumpa Hafiz (Iwate) gak, so pegi masjid Ohtsuka sesame. Dlm kol 10 gitu aku gerak sengsorang pegi Shibuya, pegi Malaysia Embassy. Jumpa ngan En Mansor... aku tanya camane nak dptkan scholarship. Banyak gak aa die citer... satu jam lebih kot. Tp yg sure, mmg takde scholarship dari Malaysian Government aa. Die suruh mintak dari universiti ikut skim SLAP (Skim Latihan ...??). Dah abis tu, aku pegi semayang kat masjid Shin-Okubo, terjumpa ngan Hanief plak (die baru gak balik embassy, awal sket dari aku). Die duk kat Hachioji jer rupenyer, tahun depan masuk Toyohashi University kat sini. OK gak tuh. Abis semayang, Shah sampai, tido jap, then sementara tunggu Asar, pegi makan kat kedai Thailand. Baik sungguh makci tu ;)

Ari Sabtu tu, naik kretapi gi Ikebukuro, tunggu Sufian kat situ, then naik kretapi ke Kami-Itabashi. Tanyer Koubang (police box) pasal kedai kereta, then amik keta. Baik sunggunh org2 situ... Shah ngan Sufian nih siap buat lawak memacam ngan org2 kedai tu... abis satu office gelak. Ngan bos skali gelak. Aku test drive dulu kat luar... jalan2 naik keta. First time guna gear shift camnih. Keta tu enjin best... lancar. Cuma masalah kosmetik aa... tire cover belakang kena beli baru, rim cover pun beli baru or tukar aluminium wheel jer. Tp duit takde lagi... nanti la.

Dah abis dokumen semer2, naik la kete... Kawasaki san tu pun buat semayang2 sbb aku cakap aku drive keta 3 bulan lepas... mmg tak biasa beb. Balik tu isi minyak dulu, then masuk highway ikut S5 (Ikebukuro Line), masuk C1 (Cycle Line), then masuk S3 (Shinjuku Line), sebelum masuk Toumei Expressway kat Tokyo IC. Alhamdulillah, dapat jugak keluar Tokyo ngan aman... sebelum nih jalan nak kuwar Tokyo nih la paling memeningkan kepala aku. Mujur aa ade co-pilot (Shah Reza) kat sebelah... thanx bebanyak Shah. Berenti makan dan semayang kat Ebina SA, then straight jalan... laju cam anak ayam. Paling slow pun 100kmph, max pegi sampai 140kmph. Huhu... cuak tuh!

Tp ok gak aa sbb minyak tak makan banyak sgt. Time berenti skali lagi kat Hamamatsu tak sampai setengah lagi abis. Jimat sungguh. Lepas lepak2 jap, jalan slow sket aa skarang... 100kmph max... tu pun dlm 80-90kmph jer la. Dah gelap aa... tak nampak sgt. Sampai kat Toyota JCT, nampak fireworks... lawa tu. Tp ade firework semulajadi (kilat) gak aa... tak lama lepas tu, hujan lebat turun.. tak nampak ape pun kat depan. Slow jer jalan... semer keta slow. Risau... Kat Komaki, terlepas aa pulok... then masuk Meihan Expressway plak... terlajak! Sampai Ichinomiya baru dapat keluar. Tu pun nyaris2 nak terhimpit ngan van kat belakang sbb tak sure lorong. Cuak jap! Kuwar tu (tol=JPY7600), lalu Route 22, then 17, masuk bandar nagoya... sesat2 sket, then sampai gak aa rumah last skali. ALHAMDULILLAH. Semer selamat. Kol 11 mlm gitu pegi Sizzleria reramai... ajan pun bawak bebudak gi tgk bunga api tadi, so ramai aa.

Ari Ahad petang, pegi Autobacs Nagoya Bay, tukar minyak enjin, buat kunci spare, beli shampoo kereta, wax, tuala, penutup cermin depan masa parking, tukar lampu depan tepi kanan yg tak nyala, etc. Balik malam tu sebelum Isya'. Then basuh keta kat depan rumah. OK aa... best!

Persiapan utk ke Tokyo dan Terengganu...

Dua ari lepas (Isnin) dah antar semua borang2 utk buat 'syako syoumei' (parking certificate) utk CR-V aku. Alhamdulillah jugak sbb polis trafik kali nih tak la seganas time aku gi first time ari Jumaat lepas. Yg ganas tu ade gak... tp aku pegi kat polis lain aa. Yg nih ok aa... die terangkan semua kat aku, tak banyak songe sgt. Semalam (Selasa) diorang dtg cek... tp takde masalah kot sbb takde pun dtg rumah / call handphone aku... so no problem aa tu, boleh amik pagi esok (Khamis), sebelum aku pegi ke Tokyo esok malam.

Ari Isnin tu jugak... sbb bosan tunggu Ohta tak datang2 kat lab... dlm lepas kol 3 gitu aku blah aa... balik rumah, amik passport, then pegi immigration bureau utk buat 'sainyuukoku kyouka' (re-entrance) utk balik Malaysia 20 - 30 Aug nih. Sbelum tu, terkezut beruk aku bila cek duit kat dlm UFJ Bank just tinggal 1 man (JPY10,000)=RM300 jer... camane nak idup nih... nak buat re-enrty pun dah abis JPY3,000... pengangkukan semer abis gak dlm JPY500... uwaa... aku dah tadak duit. Kena la aku 'khobek' duit simpanan kat bank lain. Memang dah agak dah, beli keta nih semua duit aku sure abis nyer la. Mujur aa gi Tokyo lusa takde main2... so x abis duit. JIMAT!

Tadi aku dah kuwarkan semua duit kat Yuucho (Post Office Savings) dlm JPY120,000 (RM3,600), transfer JPY80,000 masuk Tokyo-Mitsubishi Bank, selebihnya masuk poket utk bekalan ke Tokyo. Minyak saja pun musti abis dlm JPY7,000... tol pun dlm JPY10,000 gak rasenyer utk highway kat Tokyo ngan Tomei (Tokyo-Nagoya) Expressway. Kekgi abah kuwarkan RM600-700 kat Malaysia utk bayar loan ASB aku, so tinggal JPY60,000 jer kat Tokyo-Mitsubishi tu... camane la nok bayor sewa rumah, parking, bil telepon, api, air, internet, duit nak idup semer2 nih... 3 bulan sure x cukup nyer nih. Kena pinjam gak aa nampaknyer... Kucai... 10 man onegaishimasu!

Alhamdulillah... malam tadi kol 10 mlm dah berjaya bet utk Honda CR-V kat Yahoo! Japan Auction. Heisei 8, bukannya yg baru nyer. Tapi kalu jual kat Malaysia dapat gak la dlm RM60-80k. Niat beli tu utk jual sebenarnyer... dapat duit utk sara hidup & beli kete baru nanti lain kali. Duk sini naik beskal buruk aku tu pun dah ok, bukannya nok gi jallang dane sgt pong.

Alhamdulillah... cam tak caye plak. Tadi baru jer bermail ngan org kedai tu, InsyaAllah ari sabtu nih kol 11 pagi gi amik sane. Bayar duit semer2 dlm JPY361,660 (including 7% service tax). Alhamdulillah... syukur ke hadrat Ilahi... kejap tadi Egawa sensei baru jer panggil aku ke bilik die (tak sia2 dtg awal ari nih).
"Shuhaimi kun... chotto kite kudasai..."
Die buat muka sengih cam biase aa... masuk bilik, tutup pintu,
"Kinou no insyou dou datta?"
Aku pun jawab aa,
"Warukatta..., saigo no eigo no bunsyo ha, jibun ga wakarimashita kedo, nihon go de setsumei suru no ha ammari dekinakatta..."
"Nihon go da ne..., demo kimi ga daijyoubu da yo..."
"Errkkk..."
"Kimi ga OK... . Seisyiki happyou ha raisyuu no kinyoubi dakedo... kimi ha OK.
Re-za no sotukenn ni issyoukennmei yatte ne... ;)"

Alhamdulillah... besar rahmat Allah... tak sia2 usaha selama nih, betul cakap Abah & Ma... kalau nak betul2, InsyaAllah dapat. (Thanxs Ma & Abah for ur great support!)

Lepas tu Egawa tanyer pasal aku nyer scholarship application ari tu... aku cakap jer la org kat Malaysia call cakap tak dapat. Lepas tu aku citer la pasal scholarship2 lain yg aku dah bincang ngan foreign student office ari tu. Pasal scholarship dari university kat malaysia tu pun aku cerita jugak... so harap2 die faham. Nanti lepas kuwar result sebenar 12 haribulan nih, die suruh pegi bincang balik ngan foreign student office. InsyaAllah... ada rezki tu... semuanya hak Allah.

Thanxs everybody for your support! Everybody I know in my life!
Wassalam.
